1. When setting up an account you have to have a real name/username

2. You have to upload photo ID or some sort of ID when setting up an account

3. Take a photo/selfie of yourself so that the ID and yourself matches

4. Account will be either verified or declined.

SIMPLE

Forcing accounts to not be anonymous doesn't fix the problem, as Facebook (where almost every detail about a person is accessible) sees just as much racist abuse take place. Plus, it endangers people who have very legitimate reasons to stay anonymous on social media, such as someone needing a space to vent about an abusive partner, or those that are acting as whistleblowers, just to name a couple of reasons.

It's an idea with the right intentions, but ultimately it would end up causing more problems.

The first few lines of John Lennon's 'Give Peace A Chance' would be buggered!

A lot of these people doing racism on social media are silly little kids trying to be edgy, the same ones that write or show disgusting pictures regarding Hillsborough.

We need tougher penalties for it. Prison and some good hard labour. No cushty kids prison.

Sod their human rights seeing as they use inhuman abuse. All they ever get is community service at best with a easy ride because its their first offence. Community service is a doddle.

Do you know what people actually do when given community service?

You would think they would at least do something useful like litter picking but I don't think I have ever seen anybody doing anything although their human rights would no doubt be breached if they had to wear a jacket saying community service on it.

Some people won't like this comment, and I'm not sure if anyone has thought similar however I've been trying to think outside the box.

Could some of the offensive racist language on the tweets etc of been posted by BAME under a different alias in a way of rising tensions further?

Was just a thought.....

You can of course speculate that without any specific evidence, but I dont think the UK is so short on racists that it needs rogue BAME catalysts to get the hate flowing.

You are spot on with your first sentence. Social media is an absolute sewer (even though I use it myself) and its depressing what it has done to society. The lack of courtesy; the level/standard of debate; the abuse; racism; inability to allow others their own opinion, etc.

Reading about the Cadiz v Valencia incident La Liga have brought in specialist help to clean up the audio to enable them to understand what was actually said.

Reports suggest that the 2 accounts differ greatly ! then again I suppose they would.

I came off FB years ago and only really use Twitter for fcht. For all the great things the internet has enabled us to do social media has in my mind been the most questionable ‘benefit’. Too many people become what is essentially unhinged once they enter the cocoon of a keyboard and screen and it’s just not helping society imho.

All social media does is amplify your personality. If you're a dick on Facebook, you're a dick in real life. If you're racist on Twitter, you're racist in real life.

The only way to break the circle is not to close social media, but to educate the next generation to be better than us.

Well yeah. Some people believe that some others have a different personality when they go online. I don't believe that, I just think that their personality shines through.

Not necessarily, sometimes people just say daft stuff, both in real life and on line, then reflect on it and often regret it at a later date.

I don't do FB but dip in and out of Twitter.

I  hate it when I am on the platform as 99% of it is abuse, not even talking about politics or stuff just review a Messi/ Ronnie goat thread. Mindless behaviour.

Where would it send it then?

If it’s off Twitter, off Facebook, off Instagram then where else would it go? As that’s where the racial abuse is so surely it would solve 99% no?

On to my new social media platform of Twacegram, you heard it here first

I think one of the main differences is that in real life, if someone says something idiotic/baiting or whatever, the chances of someone around them either having exactly the same view, or exactly the opposite view, is very small. So the comment either goes unresponded to, or people just tell them to shut up.

Online, you will almost always find someone who has exactly the same view or exactly the opposite view, so absolutely every stupid comment gets picked up on and either reinforced, or turned into a gigantic argument/abuse fest between total opposite people, that would never interact in real life.

Ive done a stint years ago and actually enjoyed it and found it fulfilling!! I helped run a dinner club for old people at the probation centre on spring hall lane. Prepped food, made the tables and i was chief bingo caller! It was a good laugh if im truly honest.

I got into a do with somebody, summat of nowt.

These racist pigs need a good kicking. Too many swan through life taking the pi$$ and always see. To get away with their actions. Zero tolerance from day one.

If you act like a t*** expect to be treated like a t***. Look at thrm scroats firebombing the bus in bekfast last night. Should have just run them down. If they werent there in the first place being a div then nowt would have happened to them.

Have you seen the footage of the bus being petrol bombed , I saw the headline and thought it was empty and parked up .

Unbelievable , it was moving down the road  couldn't see if any passengers were aboard but front doors were open and it looks like it was thrown at the driver .

It's going backwards over there with the violence , it's shocking viewing .

I saw the footage of 2 British Soldiers sat in their car in the 80's when the  violence was at it's worse , they were surrounded by a mob , dragged out , stripped naked and executed.

That was different circumstances as we all know , this week's violence is about Brexit and trade with Republic of Ireland or something just as trivial like the anarchists in Bristol injuring 23 policeman demonstrating about a new police bill .

Two 13 year olds were arrested this week in Belfast , 13 , yes 13.

I didn't know what my children were doing all the time when they were playing out with their friends at aged 13 but to think their parents will be told there kids  were involved in a riot, beggars belief.

It's more related to the PSNI not charging the leaders of the IRA for breaking covid rules during the1st lockdown when they attended a former terrorists funeral.

The WA plays a part but in reality it's all just a cover so that they can have a pop at the old bill.

The bus driver managed to escape and the bus was firebombed whilst empty and freewheeling slowly down the road.

The dicks who did it won't have any punishnent thrown at them and it'll be a soft slap on the wrists as usual.

I know crime and punishment has many factors to weigh up which the CPS do diligently but these little scroats and these racists online get away with it.

The same old story from their solicitor that its a moment of madness from a kid with a usually good character. Its all bollox when it comes to racism online or rioting on the streets of belfast. Its premeditated. Its takes a proper effort to do it and there are so many times at which they can stop and say no this is wrong. So bollox to them and hit them hard. If they ever go on to have kids themselves it might teach them to act reyt because who wants their own kids doing hard punishment.
