Clarke Interested In Halifax's Gregory

Darrell Clarke is targeting striker Lee Gregory from Halifax.

Gregory was Halifax top scorer last season with 31 goals in 37 starts. The 25 year old former Mansfield man still has one year remaining on his contract with Halifax, so if Clarke was to get his man Rovers would have to pay a fee.

Gregory has scored a total of 62 goals in 99 apearances for Halifax since 2011.

Clarke also stated that he is not looking at Jamie Cureton at this time as he is looking at younger striker but would not rule it out totally.

Lazy reporting again too.

Wasn't Gregory's 100th goal away at Barnet?

He's scored a few since then too.

Deluded clowns.

Still think they are a "big" club, do they even have a home yet, or are they still playing out of town?

If they are bad enough to come down they aren`t good enough to go back up.

They stand as much chance of signing Greggs as Guiseley do. Maybe less.

are they Stockport in disguise? :)

Good point, they are more than likely the next phoenix club. The only thing we can be certain about is that Lee will not be joining them.  Can't blame them for dreaming, what else do they have?

Gashead in peace......

To clarify, Clarkie didn't say he was targetting Lee Gregory. He was asked by a fan, during a BBC radio phone-in, whether he was aware of Lee Gregory. He replied that Gregory was the best striker in the Conference and he rated him.

I've no doubt we could afford his transfee fee & wages but I expect him to go to a league club.

To answer a couple of questions above.....

Yes, we have been worse than terrible over the last couple years and deserved to be relegated.

One of the things we've been hampered with is Financial Fair Play regulations. We signed players on long contracts worth 2-3k per week and they get injured before they've kicked a ball.

I understand there are no rules on how much money you can spend in the Conference.

Someone asked if we have our own ground. The answer is no. We've just sold it to Sainsbury's for £40million.

In a few weeks we'll start construction on our new 22,000 Stadium which should be ready by August 2015.

Good luck with the new season.

Are we going to that current ground of yours this season? It must be one of the only grounds left with a paddock beneath the grandstand. Would love to go down there.

If you have £40M then there is no excuse for not building it. Sorry if Town fans are a little sceptical about "plans" for new stadiums, we've heard all too often. But you will like the Shay when you visit it, it's one of the best in this league.

Don't expect to find the Conference easy, Luton certainly didn't and in August 2015 there is a good chance your new ground will be opening to a Conference fixture.

It looks to be in a very rural position, so the one coach in the picture is going to be very busy when the match ends.

+1. Hoping for a Saturday away game there to make a weekend of it.
