One day he might end up back at the club as manager, but he was a good player and a good person and when my son was the mascot he had to carry him onto the pitch, and years later always asked me how he was doing, and was always good for a few free tickets at away games

I think be had a slow start but he grew into professional football and became a very committed and loyal player.

Who needs Cantona when we've got Billy Barr?

Oh and he's John Motsan's favourite Town player too.

Legend.

Billy was a former pupil of Halifax Catholic High School, Holmfield, this former school produced a number of professional sportsmen, has any Calderdale school produced more?

These are the one's I can quickly think off.

Billy Barr

Bobby Barr

Lee Richardson

Nick Richardson

Phil Whitehead

Greg Fee

Kevin Megson

Pete Costello

Peter Butler

RL: Eddie Riddleston

There's been more than that. Mark Perrett played for Halifax and Wales RL.

Sean Wood played for Huddersfield YTS.

The rugby league Fairbank family probably all went to Brooksbank so quite a few there!

Not sure how much a school has to do with 'producing' the player but plays some part.

The Caddy High pupils will have all been taught PE by ex Leeds RL winger Andy Smith.

You can add the following who were all players in the Illingworth Under 18's back in the early 70's who went on to play professionally and who went to The Catholic High:

Brendan White

Brendan Finn

Gerry O'Grady

Pete Harvey
