He quoted from the first edition, is that too hard for you to understand?

Over the last few years you have not heard one Political leader after another plus people like Henry Kissenger preach about the New World Order? You must lead a sheltered life.

Strangely you have ignored my response to the abuse that you sent me.

I think you had better go back to your first post to see who and  where the abuse came from.

To be fair f**k, s**t, dickhead, scum is a pretty mild description of you.

Geeeeeeex but there are some pathetic people on this forum.  You speak to each other like children just shut up and grow up.

He arrived with a mouthful of obscenity then played the victim. Simply pointing out the fact which is proven in the posts.

Shall see next year when comparing year on year average , no doubt it’s killing people and they’re rightly scared

We dont need to see next year. We've got previous years records to compare the current death rate against. And the spike is huge. If this isnt down to coronavirus then I'd love to know the cause.

So, people are dying from all sorts of different things.  As soon as anyone dies we whip out the testing kit and are quick to "blame" covid-19 as the cause of death.  Wouldn't we better using the testing kits, which are apparently in short supply, to test living people?

They do not test the dead

Or something.

They test positive or show the symptons when they are alive

Sounds more plausible than some of the other stuff I've read.

I'm not trying to stir up trouble here but I'm struggling to understand how the numbers are arrived at.  Example a guy breaks his leg and goes to A&E, he has no corona virus symptoms, was fit as a fiddle until he broke his leg.  It's a complex break meaning he has to stay in hospital for a week or so. Whilst in hospital he catches the virus, starts coughing, is tested and found to have the virus.  A couple of days later complications set in with his broken leg and he dies.  Is he then classed as another Corona Virus victim?

If large numbers of people are dying because they have contracted the virus whilst in hospital then us all staying at home is only having a minor positive effect.

I cannot make up my mind about the following possibilities:

a) Are we being told the truth about the number of Corona Virus deaths?

b) Are the deaths being exaggerated higher than reality so we are all frightened to go outside and obey the lockdown procedures?

c) Are the deaths being exaggerated lower than reality otherwise if we knew the real figures we would all be scared to death?

Another thing, it is believed that in normal times around 1600 people die every day of a large variety of causes.  So whilst lockdown has been in place, approx 45 days then during those 45 days approx 72,000 would die.  Have over 100,000 died in that period?

As I understand it, whether or not Covid-19 contributes to a death, they are being counted as a Covid-19 death if it's mentioned on the death certificate - so if whoever prepared the certificate includes corona virus as part of the reason (at least according to what was said during one of the many, many interviews I've seen with government ministers. I'm sure it's clarified somewhere online). They could put "complications following broken leg" or "blood clot resulting from broken leg, compounded by Covid-19 issues". In this case, only the second one would be counted - and is the most likely reason given if the patient was known to have the virus.

I think in some cases it's fair to say they don't know if Covid-19 contributed or not. This virus is causing all sorts of issues in people of many ages, circulatory and joint issues, Kawasaki (or Kawasaki-like) disease, lung scarring and organ failure amongst others. So yeah, someone with cancer may ultimately have survived if not for the contributory issues brought on by Covid-19. Of course, the opposite is also true. I personally think in terms of knowing the magnitude of how this pandemic has affected the general population, it's reasonable to attribute a death to Covid-19 if someone is infected, because to do otherwise would, ultimately, be just as a big a guess.

But like Gav said earlier, the country is experiencing eight times as many deaths as normal for this time of year, so it's safe to assume that Covid-19 is a massive part of that increased rate.

How do you quantify the number of deaths arising due to the NHS being given over to treating Coronavirus?

It is all very well saying the NHS has coped well dealing with the virus but at what cost in terms of treating other medical cases?

In some ways the available capacity has been under used given that the Nightingale hospitals have hardly been used.

There won't be many? Hospitals are still open for patients, and even those voluntarily staying at home will end up in hospital at some point if their condition gets seriously bad. There will be some, but I doubt all that many.

That's the problem, we'll never know. Appointments have been cancelled and people have been slow coming forward for treatment either because they are scared of going to hospital or they don't want to trouble the NHS.

I'm having to wait for two different specialist appointments at the moment.

One of which is to have some well overdue treatment.

Can't wait for the lockdown to finish so I can have my treatment.
