Really? You ought to pay more attention to what Redshaw, Allen and others were doing today, McDonald is a fraction of the player they are, and should find himself a N/E club in Nat North/Glue leagues, he won't be here next season.

Have never understood the love in with him that some of you have,

Harsh, and one swallow doesn't make a summer. Not saying Macdonald should have played today but Wild brought him back and said he was in his plans.

Eh?!

McDonald has been here years and had countless opportunities despite his injury lay off, and we are still waiting for the supposed potential we have seen in glimpses.

Indeed one swallow does not make a summer

Helps if someone is arsed to convert his crosses.

Its difficult when the go behind the onrushing player, as they mostly do.

Not from where I am sat, at least two sitters in each half which is as many as most wingers produce in a match. Usually waiting for the rest to catch up.

I rate Josh. Just don’t think others are on the same wavelength as him. Was good when he came on against Wrexham. Beat his man every time and assisted Williams goal

As Roy Race says, ‘Usually waiting for the rest to catch up’ - he is on point for me. We don’t have a striker who scores and we don’t have any box to box midfielders who break their necks to get into the box. We have a workmanlike team with a devoid of natural flair and ability. We will never get the best out of a player like Macdonald when we don’t have the players to compliment his strengths.

Correct, MacDonald is not the problem.

Didn't fit in todays formation, you don't select a winger when you aren't playing wingers

Apart from the 2 wingers that played as wing backs of course? :D

To me he has talent .. but he can be absent for too much of the game ..he might do well in a better team .  But then a better team would not need him

he needs to be able to find a way of building his own contributions..he can’t always hope someone else will bring him into the game

He is a luxury we can’t afford!!

Shows flashes here and there but never delivers consistently, can’t tackle and goes missing once he’s been clattered, hasn’t developed at all

Allen and Redshaw are the types who would potentially benefit from his low crosses between the centre backs and keeper with their pace and movement. King was excellent today so deserves to keep his spot but I wouldn’t mind seeing Josh come on for half an hour NYD and seeing how he fits in with the new shape/attacking lineup.
