So you were wrong in saying Burnley have spent almost their entire history in the top flight, yeah?

'almost their entire history' exactly.

But the facts wot you can look up show beyond all doubt that they haven't spent almost their entire history in the top flight, yeah?

Game, set and match to Pliny.

They've spent 1/3 to 1/2 of their time in the top division.

By that definition Town have won 'almost all' their games this season and you can pipe down your moaning Trev.

Another Nerd who should stick to playing with his train set. In fact, why not support someone at 'your level' down south?.

So knowing the definition of basic words makes me a nerd? Top logic Trev.

I could but you could also sod off and watch the amazing football you claim is played 'everywhere else in Europe' ?

A decade or two old phrase first voiced in The Sun Inn, Littleborough as The Landlord turfed us out saying he did not serve football supporters.

From The Bucket Man himself:

"We are not football supporters, we are Halifax Town supporters"

It's well worth sharing opinions on why medium-sized towns like Burnley and Barnsley have fantastic support and a strong football league pedigree, no point in it if the discussion's DOA because of a certain poster's daily "no ambition" rants sadly.

Because The Burnley BOD and supporters always show ambition, simple really.

And with an all-british squad they're the perfect side for you to support.

Oh, why is that? Don't The Shaymen too anyway?

Thought this was a thread about transfers?!  Are we buying the entire Burnley squad or something???

My thoughts too :-)

Get an awful feeling we won't sign anyone unless roberts and/or maynard go which will then result in pointless loanee replacements who won't add anything to the team

No but I wish we showed the same ambition.

Beware Mr (Moody) B will on your case shortly, you must understand that we must down to the saviours of the club although this did involve the required execution of the old club, but heh we're all City fans so what the heck

Yawn, boring. If you don't want them at the club do something about it. Everyone's bored of you bleating the same old nonsense - you're worse than Moody.

It's worked very well to Burnley so fair play to them - not sure you can call it down to ambition when they had one of the lowest wage bills in the Championship and spent 4million in the summer. One of those perfect storms of good management (at boardroom and pitch level) and a bit of good fortune got them in the prem this time.

To claim it's down to ambition is about as simplified as you could make it.

Given the current share owning structure at FCHT how would you best suggest this is achieved #cityfansforever

I think we all know the point Trev is trying make. Burnley, a town with a smaller population than halifax have spent most of their time in the upper reaches of the league. That is a fact - It is nit-picking to suggest otherwise. Whether this is down to ambition, tradition or luck is debatable. On the other hand halifax is smaller than Wakefield yet our footballing history is far more illustrious than theirs.....go figure
