  1. Read your own posts and those of your lad, you don't seem to get it. The assertions you made were either completely thoughtless, which is possible, or your ideas are simply 20 years out of date. To try and create a link between an act of terrorism and the questionable actions of an EDL type was quite offensive. To suggest that a terrorist incident was buried in news perhaps says most about the news sources you choose. I'm still reading about the Reading deaths, it remains prominent in a range of news sources. Think for a moment what the world is actually like for some folk based on skin colour and where your head is on the question of racism. I don't understand how you can't grasp that the events in America are a symbolic moment that brings to the fore how institutional racism is a crippling aspect of many lives. You don't know me by the way, vile no, principled yes. Speak to somebody who knows me, I doubt you will find ditractors. Also reflect (seriously think about it) on the statements you have made here and elsewhere. Bottom line, you can spout tripe all day long about football. However, when it comes to more significant aspects of life, perhaps think a moment before you type.
  2. No, not at all, am saying that the lads with the least amount upstairs constantly seem to know the best. Bit of reasoned, informed debate on the other hand is a pretty useful aspect of a forum.
  3. Which is exactly why its OK to resort to abusive langauge and suggest somebody throws them self in front of a moving vehicle. Mmmm, let me mull that one over, could be just that on a general level you can't control that temper. Here's the thing sunshine, you always know better, bit like the dim-witted racist father and son combo. Truth is, you have no real grasp of the complexities, personalities or choices that any 'incapable' , full time football manager (who gets paid) has to deal with in any situation that you choose to simplify. There may be some situations in life where you know better than others but football and personal conduct are not them.

  5. You should tell their manager, you remain the worlds greatest football genius. Remind me what you do for a living again...

    Barrow

Well done Barrow but little expectation they will stay there for long. On the subject of Kossy, its really simple, if he had the right attitude he wouldn't be playing non league. We can't afford that sort of player who looks good but rarely is. Watch the Chesterfield game on YouTube and tell me we haven't stepped up a notch.
  7. I am not sure he would admit that and people with similar views would be the same, they don't see it as racist, they see it as balance.
  8. How many bosses have you had who are not white? And if it is zero, is that because people who are black or brown are such a minority or might it be down to something else? We can't deflect that fact that this is about systemic, institutional racism and it's about here as much as anywhere.
  9. Astonishing levels of disrespect and thoughtlessness on display.
  10. Borehamwood chairman suggested they wouldn't play another game but he is a nob who oversees a pretend, skanky club. They will of course play and I hope we grind them into the dirt never to be seen again above the isthmian league division C. More interesting, how would it feel to win these play offs? We had 7k at the Shay last time we won a play off. It was an event for the casual fan. Doing the same at St George's Park, nice as it is, feels hollow and strange. I would still take it though.
  11. Looks like an album cover
  12. Is that Fat Willy holding on to Zeb?
  13. I love that second picture. They often talk about those Martin Parr pictures from the late 70s, but this one beats them for me. Full of drama. Like a who's who of town fans.
  14. I tell you what, all this talk of cricket doesn't help. Miss it same as Shay for different reasons. Chester le Street is no Scarborough though!
  15. You have just answered a question for me!! My mom said she sat next to a real Town fan at the dinner but she couldn't tell me who!!
  16. I did one finals day, I had a strong family interest with the nephew captaining, and it was a flat affair. So few actual fans there. On that day it was actually the returning stars who let the side down, Root and Bairstow. Proud moment nevertheless.
  17. How do you reckon yccc would have faired in the T20, with the move away from home grown talent? I was expecting a fail and the demise of Gale.
  18. I still pop in when we are not playing just to check it's still there!
  19. In this strange time I have reflected how my 'special place' in life is the Shay. Distance means I don't get there as often as I would like, but when I do, it's the only place I want to be. I watch the game with football mates who I have known for decades. We talk shite for a couple of hours, bask in victory when it happens, curse the ref if it doesn't. There is nothing else like it and no memories that match it. I remember results and goals from every decade back to the seventies. I never get bored with it and one way or another, it always evokes some emotion. It's not about success, formations, 'knowing football' or being fashionable. It's about loving this club that we are part of in a way that premiership fans can only dream of. God I miss it. Stand up if you love the Town.
  20. Am presuming that's a steam train?
  21. Can't see his bucket now
  22. I lost the battle long before regain was invented!
