  1. Saw my Consultant Tuesday to discuss the results of the MRI, PSA, SCANS and was over the moon to find that the dreaded C was the same as it was in October so now i just have to have blood tests every three months and will visit my Consultant in July I would like to thank Pete Wild, the lovely Louisa, Chadders,Pete Lassey,Speg,Lanzo, Vinnyeknuts, Collin Canberri for taking time out and helping me through this dreadful year, a little club with a big heart, and not forgetting all the messages of support to myself from everybody on the forum. THANK YOU.

  3. There's lots of help and support out there but it's not available for everyone, or can be difficult for some to access right now. Maybe you just need pointing in the right direction or need a chat. Not everyone has a support network that is local. Halifax Town supporters are a community. We can do our bit to look after each other in these strange times. Need help? If you need anything, from a bog roll to help with accessing benefits, leave a brief message in this thread and maybe someone can come up trumps. Keep your post brief and personal details to a minimum - something like

  4. My 11 year old grandson has just been informed that Nathan Clarke is going to have a zoom call with him on Monday. He is so excited. Many thanks Nathan and Halifax Town, what a fantastic thing for a young lad to experience. This is one of the reasons I love my football team.

  5. DJ would like me ( Mrs Funky) to say a big thank you to the guys on The Forum for their amusing and good luck messages. He'd also like to thank Pete Wild, the lovely Louisa,Chadders, and Steve Lanzo for taking time out for DJ, it was greatly appreciated. I have just been packing his his bag for the hospital and guess what i've found,? you've guessed it, a large stash of Digestive biscuits, old habits die hard. I now know what this club means to DJ and you, the loyal fans,so GOOD LUCK for Saturday!!

  6. In this strange time I have reflected how my 'special place' in life is the Shay. Distance means I don't get there as often as I would like, but when I do, it's the only place I want to be. I watch the game with football mates who I have known for decades. We talk shite for a couple of hours, bask in victory when it happens, curse the ref if it doesn't. There is nothing else like it and no memories that match it. I remember results and goals from every decade back to the seventies. I never get bored with it and one way or another, it always evokes some emotion. It's not about success, formatio

  7. Really disappointed as I thought with our 2 strikers finally fit this was going to be the kick-start to our season. Given how poor Wealdstone were, it surely would have been if we'd have kept 11 men on the pitch. But no manager can prepare for a 3rd minute red card and then a few minutes later the loss of your running striker, especially with a bench full of youth team players. Wild got it spot on though. Sit tight, ask the midfield to work extra hard, close any gaps and look to capitalise on mistakes. Tired in the second half and Williams' red killed it, but if Hyde scores the bes

  8. However, lets remember where we were this time last year. Six registered players, moral low, a manager disliked by pretty much everyone and the bookies favourite for the drop. We extended our season into the Playoffs, but sadly came up short, but lets be clear, this hasn't been a poor season. Lets get behind Pete, let him bring in his players and have a proper pre-season to build a squad and get back at it next season. We couldn't go any further tonight, but the lads have done us proud in the last 12 months.

  9. I think under the current circumstances that its only right that we extend our very best wishes to The Prime Minister Boris Johnson. It doesn't matter what your politics are at times like these, he's a relatively young guy whose girlfriend is expecting a baby and it it proves conclusively that it doesn't matter who you are or where you live or what you do, we are all at risk. So good luck to Boris and everyone else battling this disease, and all the thanks in the world to our brilliant NHS, from the top man to the cleaners and porters, god bless them all and keep them safe.

  10. I browse other teams forums fairly regularly, mainly because there isn't enough good NL content out there, but this is the first time I've felt compelled to create a profile to post. I've never seen a fan come on another team's forum just to slag off their own player(!) who's out on loan. We are not all like Jay! Yes, being realistic, Nyal isn't the best striker in the world and we wouldn't be loaning him out to a fellow club in our league if he was in-favour, but he's certainly not a lost cause. He played a significant part in our NLN title winning season and did enough last seaso

  11. Last night dj asked me to update his situation on the forum, he has not been on here as he is in excruciating pain and football is the last thing on his mind he is having constant visits with medics and they have managed to bring forward his operation from the back end of the year to 30/09/20 when he will then have to have a 4 day stay in hospital. He is therefore hoping that this corvid virus does not interfere with this date and the op can go ahead. I obviously wished him all the best from each and everyone of us and he asked for his privacy to be respected for the next couple of weeks until

  13. Before commentating on today’s streaming and game I have to declare I have self isolating since March 7th except visits to hospital and doctors and collecting my season ticket seat allocation plus 4 visits to Tesco. So perhaps my views are biased towards the anticipation of witnessing a game of football involving FC Halifax Town Having never used streaming before I was more than happy with the coverage and commentary of the game despite the penalty coverage cock up. Some users far more technical minded than me have suggested various changes to the streaming which will improve the offering

  14. C'mon Flea you're not comparing like for like. Your NFL subscription is a commercial product designed for supporters who can't/don't attend games (most of which will be played in another country). Town's streaming offer is a last resort attempt to allow the football club to continue to play games, together with a minimum of supporter involvement. The former will have many times more subscribers than the latter and can rely on economy of scale to spread the cost, thus reducing the per-subscriber price. It's clearly not intended as a direct replacement for season tickets and the articl

  16. Just wanted to let everyone on here know what a great idea this was, to ring some fans for a chat. I registered my 11 year old grandson for one of these and yesterday Josh Staunton rang him for a chat. He was on the phone for 25 minutes and my grandson was completely made up. He couldn't wait to ring me to tell me how it all went. Many thanks to Halifax Town and especially Josh Staunton for taking the time to spend with a young fan. We have been going to the Shay together for 5 years now and I think this will ensure that he remains a Shayman for the rest of his life.

  17. I think people may know that I am biased toward the NHS. In the past couple of weeks my dad has complained of chest and back pain. He is 90 and fairly fit, for his age. It got worse on Friday and we rang emergency services. They said it didn’t sound like cv and sent an ambulance. He’d had a heart attack. They had a slot on Friday afternoon and he had stents fitted. He is back home in front of the fire this evening with a care package in place. We are so lucky in this country to have the NHS.

  20. Plus I’m loving the effort that is going in to publicising these signings. There are teasers on social media. Followed by the big reveal. Then supported by a quote giving PW’s rationale for each signing. It really gives you confidence that these are well thought out recruitments.

  22. When I received this mysterious envelope Friday I was gobsmacked at the contents and just stared at what was in it to the amusement of Mrs Funky, what a lovely gesture from our club and really cheered me up. The contents consisted of a get well soon card and great looking FC Halifax Town Face Mask from Pete ,Louisa Chadders and all at the club and will wear with pride at my next visit to the hospital. I could not wait to get on the phone and tell other fans from Blackpool; Fleetwood, and Afc Fylde what our club had done and got many strange comments asking what I had been smoking or lockdown w

  23. Don’t rate Wild! Apart from getting a team in the play offs last season when he inherited 8 players and had 2 weeks to get a squad together, and being in the play offs now when his squad has had Covid and his first choice strike pairing have been injured, not sure what else you expect? Not to mention our budget which is dwarfed by lots of teams we sit above now and finished above last season. Or to mention the absolute professionalism, honesty and clarity we as fans have had in the last 18 months which is far higher than I’ve ever experienced as a fan. He’s brought training back to H

  30. A couple of weeks back the usual suspects on here were having a go at the club the chairman the manager and of course other posters on this site about lack of news lack of signings too many players from last season offered contracts too many players from last year turning down those contracts too small a budget not prepared to buy a season ticket until we see who is signed not prepared to buy a season ticket until guaranteed that crowds can attend well even the most critical have to admit now .. the communication has been great .. interview

  32. What we all find highly amusing is that Stelling, club president of your club hartlepool united (small h and u intended),has had a public rant about the latest postponement of our fixture. If I was a monkey hanger fan (small m, h and f intended) it would be me who would be embarrassed to have this brain dead Drongo (large D intended) represent my club. I believe he once presented Countdown, so Jeff, you have 30 seconds to solve this conundrum... K, R, E, A, W and N (large letters intended)........

  35. Barnet very poor, however besides Torquay I haven’t been impressed by anyone really. Bell & Hyde looks to be the way forward, both compliment each other. Massively important Jeff King sorts his disciplinary record out too as he’s going to be huge for us this season. Maher brilliant despite limited playing time of late. MOM Jake Earing for me, outstanding. All over the field, assists, build up play, keeping possession. Shame he had a few sloppy passes in final third otherwise it would have been perfect. Two winnable games coming up and hopefully tonight is the game

  37. At a club like ours I don't get the 'I will only buy a season ticket if we sign....' Right now the club needs our support more than most other moments. To be honest, if you follow the Shay expecting to win something, and that's the only reason, you might need some professional help. Keep it simple, stand up and be counted when it matters. STID

  39. Well what can I say but thanks to Louisa, Chadders ,and Pete Wild, thought it was somebody having me on but what a lovely thought and once again ill say I now know why I follow the Shaymen, spent the rest of the day ringing people up and the first thing they all said no way, my Blackpool mate could not believe it and the Afc Fylde fan said I should change the tablets. We had a long chat and it was just like talking to an old friend and even Mrs Funky had a chat with him when a delivery man came to deliver a big box of biscuits which my daughters had ordered, got back in the house and Mrs Funky

  41. The Courier report talks about Mooney being completely unmarked for their 2nd goal, yet all the moaners on here are having a go at Johnson - again. Why has he become the fans boo boy. Just support all our players, we are winning games and climbing the league. Let’s celebrate that. I read a great article the other day about people moaning about 2020. It said about how many good things have happened in 2020. It is all about perception. Think positive, see the good, not the negatives, and you’ll enjoy life far more.

  42. What a turn around Wild has done. Some people wanted him sacked way too early. Things can take time and it was clear to see we had hugely improved on last season we just weren’t finishing chances. I think the recruitment apart from 1 or 2 has been brilliant, we have so much strength in depth. Slowly climbing the table and very confident we will finish in the play offs. Not one team has stood out to be better than us maybe Stockport and Torquay and that’s it. We are certainly going in the right direction in many aspects - Coming back to Halifax full time training

Therefore, my preference would be the 3rd shirt I've just agreed to sponsor the home shirt for next season so hopefully we'll get a home tie first in the League 2 playoffs

  48. After speaking to the club today there will not be another football card at the moment, the next one has been put on the backburner for a while. The club, and especially the Manager has asked if anyone has any spare cash, the cut outs for the BW game is the way they would like you to go. BW dont get any money from our sales and the club take the majority of the money from each cut out. Pete Wild has said as strange as it may be he would love the players to see all FCHT's allocated seats completely full of faces. The club have been given 300 seats and if we could fill them the likelihood is we
