  1. Really disappointed as I thought with our 2 strikers finally fit this was going to be the kick-start to our season. Given how poor Wealdstone were, it surely would have been if we'd have kept 11 men on the pitch. But no manager can prepare for a 3rd minute red card and then a few minutes later the loss of your running striker, especially with a bench full of youth team players. Wild got it spot on though. Sit tight, ask the midfield to work extra hard, close any gaps and look to capitalise on mistakes. Tired in the second half and Williams' red killed it, but if Hyde scores the bes

  2. I already knew from a post that Johnny Meynell made in a previous year that three ex-Town players were KIA during WW1, but in researching for ShaymenOnline it feels like I got to know the players more intimately than you'd expect given that we're talking about 100 years ago. I'd read about their performances, their injuries, their moves to other clubs, sometimes back again, not to mention the letters from fans, both good and bad, and even in some cases about the players getting married and having kids. Above is the cutting that appeared in the Halifax Evening Courier on Wednesday 23 Febru

  3. We live in an ultra PC world where you are unable to have an opinion that differs from the voiciferous pressure groups or the self appointed media do gooders, whatever happened to free speech.

  4. Sorry guys cant agree on both sendings off, they were self inflicted. Discipline appears to be an issue within the team. Pete Wilde has always been guilty of berating the official & this is rubbing off on the team. He needs to address this & quick. As for the game, we were the better team until we went down to 9 men. Overall quality was more Sunday league, with a decent work rate. I cannot remember a single cross into the box by us, Wealdstone were even worse. It looks like a long hard season ahead

  5. My observations are based on use of words what happened in the US in those days was indefensible. Surely it is the context in which it is used that causes offence, who decides what words are PC & which aren't, I always considered black to be offensive & used coloured it would appear this is not acceptable but by who.

  6. If fans were allowed in the grounds i think we could have been in bother tonight. I think the ref would have seen a reaction far worse than the Hemuzzi one at Ossett.

  7. I used to love Fridays as a kid - no school for two days, prize bingo at the cricket club, had to get in early to get a seat, then fish with mushy peas in a tray for the walk home. Growing up sucks.

  8. Perhaps Booby Ham can ask PNE to let us have David Nugent on a free loan, as he is currently in same situation as Hanson was for us.

  9. Get a flight booked and pack your boots Lanzo, on Saturday you're at right back I'm up front. We will be on the pitch longer than King and Stenson were.

  10. Excellent news!! Hope the young lad recovers quickly and gets back out playing soon. And also a big shout out to the medical teams and staff of both clubs for getting the situation sorted out there on the pitch. Credit to all.

  11. While at the same time we sign a bunch of crocks that can only last 15 minutes. These so called prolific goal scorers we have signed have really set the place on fire. The manager is responsible for Hanson leaving and signing players that can't even walk.

  12. We didn't need to rearrange the game so quickly . Sometimes it's better to buy yourself a bit of time

  13. I thought we did pretty well considering King took it upon himself to hand the referee no option so early on. The second booking looked harsh but, you know, if the referee is as trigger happy as some on here claim, the players should really have been briefed on that and been a bit more cautious, especially Williams given he'd already been booked. I thought Summerfield, Clarke and Tear played great, in fact I thought the whole team did reasonably well considering the numerical disadvantage. Town looked the most likely team to score until the second sending off. How the hell Wealdstone

  14. This is a good summary of the game. The person who wrote this is a real supporter of their club and this is a very balanced view of the game. Well done to that person.

  15. Will he have a choice with his 2 first choice wing backs suspended. Maybe now would be a good time to try a different formation, as the current one is not producing the desired results.

  17. Bubba & yourself appear to have differing definition of free speech. When did coloured become none you, about the time person of colour became fashionable, people call me an awkward badly old git, do I take offence, no, some very thin skinned people out there.

  20. We may well have done. That's it's and buts though. We lack attacking threat. Not just last night but over the course of the season. Something needs to be changed at the top end of the pitch

  21. If we had 11 men we’d have won comfortably last night.

  22. We've only conceded 4. Same as scoring. . Its abit boring all over the field at the minute. We barely look like scoring and we barely look like conceding. Something has to change. Someone last night mentioned a change of formation and it's a route I'd be happy going. We have the players to play it and certainly the likes of Allen and Tear are ready made for that formation.. In the current formation you are too reliant on the full backs and its just not reliable if your not on the front foot. You need guaranteed width.. we dont get balls in the box. That will hopefully improve t

  24. All if buts & maybe's but we were hardly played off the pitch with 10 or 9 men. If we had finished the match with a full team on the pitch we would have had at least a fully deserved point with possibly more.

  25. I´m not PW´s biggest fan but I think he has got the assessment right on this game, if Stenson is an injury prone player we should never have signed end of. fitness is the first priority when signing a player.

  27. I agree but having watched most matches this season I don’t see how we will win games. Yes we’ve missed Hyde etc but there is always an excuse. I don’t think king should have seen red today but why give the ref that decision to make. It was a bloody stupid tackle. Wild should set an example and is sent off. Not good enough and with Stenson (predictably) knackered again it’s going to be a long long season.

  28. Can’t complain with the effort but it’s excuse after excuse. I really hope we turn this around but honestly cannot see where the goals will come from and its going to be a long season. Think we could be in a relegation battle unless we starting picking up points soon.

  29. We'll see how react to that. The pressure is on and the lads will be baying for blood after today. I don't expect us to just turn up at Solihull, honestly, and we showed some grit to get as far as we did today. Terrible result, including the two suspensions, but everyone has a point to prove now.

  30. I don’t think anyone watching that game can be disappointed with the 10 out there tonight. Proper gutsy performance, they scored with their first chance of the game It’s a sickener, but it’s one of those

  32. I just don’t think we create enough chances. At the beginning of the season everyone was saying get a goalscorer and we will score goals. We get a goalscorer who’s not fully fit and don’t create chances. Slowly starting to agree with @Hoddie on how this season is going to go

  33. Hopefully on the return fixture we'll have a full strength team, a fair ref and hammer this lot.

  34. I don`t disagree with you. He has been one of our best players however, we know that he has a very short fuse and that he is always liable to do something like he has done tonight. It is the exception when he doesn`t get booked. He now has an automatic 3 match ban. That will impact when he reaches so many bookings, as he undoubtedly will. I immediately thought it was a red card and that he may have just got away with it but he then had to go and step over the stricken player and just leave a leg in. Ref was left with no choice.

  35. Before I get shot down by those in the know, this is yet another reason why we should do a full build up to each game for 1/2hr prior to kick off. It would help iron out any technical difficulties as well as improving the service to us paying fans

  38. Altough it would seem simpler to list the afflictions that DJ isn't suffering from, I believe that if caught early (as stated) there's a pretty good chance of a full recovery. Poor old DJ must be cream-crackered by now with all this worry and the hospital visits, though. Chin up, my friend! I know you'll have to peg it eventually, but hopefully not for a long time yet. I need to see your smiling face emerging from those turnstiles, and hear your never-ending M62 horror stories.
