  1. Just want to ensure Bill Gates has ensured that a global audience has bandwidth to ensure the billions logging on at 7:30 to get their Shay fix? I expect that in our £9.99 bundle we have access to a match day programme, half time display by the Mixendon Milfettes, a sachet of the Paddy Roche tomato soup megamix, a scratch n sniff card to remind us of the Shay urinal experience and a pre-recorded soundtrack of stadium announcements of "Green Leader report to Stadium Control a 5 year old kid has a curly wurly out of control". Any other requests, I assume piped stadium noise of "bloody rubbish t

  3. I don't recognise these "dog botherers!!!!!!!" Yes, 'tis me. I'm a bit of a throw back to the days when if you went to watch The Shaymen on a Friday evening and The Terriers on a Saturday afternoon, people didn't think you were a moron or wanted to punch you (I'm aware that there was plenty of that back then, just never my scene.) I still come to The Shay at pretty much every opportunity I can. But I'm first and foremost a 3rd generation Huddersfield Town fan (my son and daughter are now the 4th, poor buggers!!) Twice I have made the wrong decision as to which HTAFC (or now FCH

  6. See my link in the PL topic about the Bundesliga rules on money men and football. Under their system Wigan would not be the basket case it is now.

  7. Davison 80, Swindlehurst equaliser 85, Staniforth winner 89th minute - missed by me as I didn't want to miss my 9.20pm bus. I assumed it would end 1-1, but informed by Keith Nuttall that we'd got the winner.

  9. Our luck might be improving. Tough start with injuries to our strikers and 2 hard away games. But I think it’s a good time to play Yeovil who are struggling at the moment. Sure they’ll be near top at the end of the season. I can see another clean sheet and 3 points.

  10. 3 points here would mark a very good return at the start of the season for the teams we have played against.

  12. It's never free, somebody always pays. Either through indirect taxes or the increased cost of products to cover the sponsorship and advertising expenses. It makes the channel(s) subject to third-party interest and removes any semblance of impartiality. Sky is the worst of all worlds though, you pay a small fortune every month AND you're subjected to advertising - and they even have the cheek to make some things pay-per-view! On top of all that you usually have to put up with their incessant efforts to get you to use Sky Bet and their phone and broadband services. And what original program

  13. Not quite. Derby scored twice in extra-time to win the match 5-2 (6-4 on aggregate). But yes, had the away goals rule counted, Town would have gone through after 90 mins at the Baseball Ground.

  20. Thought he might have had a couple of games caretaker at some point. I don't think he did but it's a long time ago. On a side note whilst talking about long times ago, it was on this day in 1998 that Fulham signed super Geoff.

  27. Yes, Bobby is one of my all time favorite Halifax players...along with Jamie Patterson and Steve Norris. It was a brilliant signing by Mickey Bullock when he brought him in, I think from Huddersfield. The 2 games against Derby were great, I was at both. Dave Staniforth scored for us in the first match. I was also lucky enough to be at the Wimbledon 4-2 victory. That was one of the best away performances and results I've seen from the Shaymen, and Davison was absolutely brilliant that day. Very good goal also from the often criticized Vernon Allat.

  29. I’ll finally go for a win this time around. Yeovil seem to be struggling and our performances make me think we can edge it. 1-0 I’ll go for.

  30. Positive start to the season performance wise and unlucky not to be unbeaten if not sat joint top with maximum points. No reason to suggest we cannot pick up maximum points tomorrow night either.

  31. I don't know why everybody blames Sky because they cannot watch international matches. The people to blame are the governing bodies that put their sports up for auction. If not Sky it would be some other organisation. Would everyone have agreed to pay extra on their licence for the BBC to bid for these sports ? No I dont think so. Mind you they would have probably used the extra money to pay a DJ £1,000,000 a year for a few hours work. Or have they already done that.

  32. Wasn't this the model when play-offs were first introduced? I seem to remember it all kicking off at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea had finished 4th bottom back in 1988.

  33. All that just because i said i don't pay for a TV licence. Hoddie i watch TV and it doesn't cost me any money for a TV licence therefore as far as i am concerned it is FREE. All those companies that pay for advertising pay the networks.

  36. We had planned our day. Dinner prep etc based on 5pm kick off. At 5 to 5 I put telly on. Which side is it on? Can’t find it! Only then did we discover that it wasn’t on. We could have had dinner earlier and been ready to watch the Giro d’Italia highlights at 7pm. Missed half of that by the time we’d had dinner! What a pain!

  38. We were sat in the back row of the main stand. Brian Clough straight in front of us. "Come on Brian; he must be worth a million" was our sales pitch as Bobby's two goals went in. "He took that one well" was his response to the second goal, but no million forthcoming, unfortunately!

  39. Saw this article in the Non-League Paper about the next Vardy. Shame he never got a sniff in the game yesterday. Shows how well the defensive unit performed if we can keep players of this calibre quiet for 90 mins. https://www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/latest-news/national-league-step-one/31575/kabongo-tshimanga-non-league-footballs-next-jamie-vardy/

  40. Won 2-1 at home , lost 3-2 away 4-4 on aggregate , through to next round on away goals , cue celebrations in the away end at full time from those (me included) who had not realized that unlike previously in the Milk Cup away goals rule had changed to after extra time where we conceeded another two. Just about sums up the luck the club gets , none. Good trip to the Baseball ground anyway .

  41. Rhead is one of them players who seem to get away with murder with referees, another is Akinfenwa who plays for Wycombe, just constantly barges players in the box. It's not football but refs don't seem think its wrong.

  42. How many saw the antics of Rhead yesterday ref had to speak to him twice and should have been booked on the 2nd then his antics in front of big Sam when he was trying to line up the free kick, the guy is a total nut case, he also had a few digs at Tom Bradbury but the lad just kept bouncing bad, good on him.

  43. Exactly what I’m seeing. With luck, this team could win the league or not be far off if they carry on playing as they have started. I wouldn’t judge this team after 7 or 8 games as those teams are pretty much the top 7 or 8 tipped for promotion! A tough start and if we are within 6/7 points of top after them I’d be confident.

  46. Because earlier lockdowns and mandatory face masks have worked wonders so far haven't they. Don't know what else Brighouse can do. NHS track and trace in place, hand gel pumps everywhere, 1 in at the bar with face masks, 1 in at the toilets. Large spaces between small groups of people. If they don't do all this they could be subject to fines. If that sounds too dangerous for people they're probably better off not going.
