  2. Simply not true. Child Benefit is only paid in respect of kids who live abroad if those kids live in the EEA, and the parent in the UK is still responsible for their care (think of seasonal fruit pickers, etc.). There will be very few individuals granted asylum who are citizens of an EEA country, in fact I doubt there'll be even a single one, as EEA countries are considered safe countries under UK asylum laws. It's amazing how people's views are reinforced by false news, to the point where they themselves start peddling the bollox, converting others to the same opinion. You

  5. In the past I've bought S/T sharing cost with my mum (who lives locally - I do not) who used it for some, not all, games; on the rare occasions I made it to the Shay as well, one of us paid in. Would guess we missed about 1/3 to 1/2 of games so we didn't get full 'value for money' but this wasn't a priority for me at £199 at it was a way of supporting the club from a distance, however the consideration becomes a bit more important at £299. Am still contemplating whether to go for one this year, it's certainly not going to represent value for money but on the other hand the club could do with a

  7. Do they realise the Proms controversy was invented to take the idiot Tory voters attention away from the utter shambles of the current Government? Why include that? Surprised they didn’t include the asylum seekers arriving in Dover which has been forced into the news for the same reason.

  14. Do you know what 1st Town game your dad saw was? If so check ebay to see if there is programme from the game for sale and frame it. I was born 19 March 60 and have that days programme vs Newport framed on wall. Whole thing cost me £15!

  15. Only 9 seconds of footage I know but hopefully a window into this season's style of play. The ball didn't go 60 foot in the air once.

  19. Much deserved. For all the **** comments that he’s always on the floor bla bla bla, he’s an extremely talented lad who creates more chances than most, and keeps possession better than most. When England got to the semis of the World Cup 2 years back, we came unstuck against a Croatia side who ran the midfield against our work horses. Modric etc just kept the ball. Hopefully Grealish and Foden, who are better footballers technically than those who played two years ago, can excel for us.

  22. Sorry Tommy this is a one off. Striker played 52 games for Town, 52 games for Stockport. Scored in total 40 goals. If you get this right you are over 65 or cheating. This bloke knew Cliff Richard well and has had sex with Una. Tommy's usual rules apply.

  25. Do you realise they tell you this utter garbage hoping in your angered state you won’t notice their incompetence has recently destroyed countless jobs, increased the cost of living, killed thousands of us (my relatives included) and that they just tried to con working class kids out of their deserved qualifications to benefit rich kids instead? Luckily for our town they were caught out in time on that last one.

  30. Asylum seekers cannot claim Child Benefit until and unless their claim is accepted. Nobody's accused you of being racist, but you are peddling falsehoods.

  31. I read this claim in the Daily Mail the other day. I believe they were forced to print a retraction, but as your post proves, the irresponsibility of parts of the media has long-lasting effects, which is probably their aim to be fair. It all helps paint an 'us v. them' narrative, turning our attention away from things that really matter. Asylum seekers get £37.75 per week, plus £3 if they're pregnant. There's a one-off maternity payment of £300 when they're due to give birth. I think we can all agree that even where an asylum claim is not genuine, that new-born kids are the last people we shou

  33. The reason why we house asylum seekers is because we're a country that (usually) abides by international law. The reason that hotels are sometimes used is because successive governments have failed to create sufficient capacity within the system to deal with asylum cases in a timely manner. These delays have become so normal that private sector companies have been brought in on a regionalised basis to provide their housing needs, at considerable cost to the country's taxpayers. The reason that good hotels are sometimes used is because those companies are contracted to provide a finite limited

  36. Hope the lad plays. England have been on an upward curve under Southgate but to take the next step and make a final he can be the type of player that takes them there. A midfield made up of him and Foden alongside the drive of Henderson is far more potent than either of the selections against Croatia or Holland.

  37. Also the only player in the villa team that is constantly targeted by the opposition with dirty tactics as he is their key player. He is a great talent and created more chances than any other English players in the premier league last season. Should have been in the original squad but at least he is in now

  41. Other clubs operate a similar scheme, I have seen it for a few debenture schemes, where the S/T holder can put their seat back into a pool of released seats which are then offered for sale. I would think the club with it's limited resources would not want to take this on but it might be something the Supporters Club could assist with. If the S/T holder was a member of the Supporters Club and they wished to donate their seat for a specific game, and the supporters club could find a member who was a non-season ticket holder and who would be prepared to pay for it then it could be a win-win situa

  43. I honestly think he suffered from academy player syndrome last season. He just wasn’t ready for the rough & tumble of national league football last season. His first game for us in a friendly against farsley last season he looked head and shoulders the best player in pitch. Let’s hope a year or training and the loan spell last season is the catalyst for him to be a breakout player this year.

  44. Same here. About twenty-five miles further south. I usually buy one, but still deliberating over a ST as I don’t know if I’ll be able to get to any home games at all for the foreseeable. Plans are changing all the time due to work, age, politics and health considerations, so not as relaxed about spending as I have been in the past. I might well swallow hard and give it another go over the weekend, however. One thing I keep coming back to, and this is not a dig at the club ownership or management, nor do I want to open a an of worms here, but I would feel a lot happier throwing money at it if t
