  1. On reflection after digesting the retained list I am of the opinion various decisions on the list were made for both squad flexibility and financial reasons. Redshaw showed occasional glimpses of true class at our level but went missing when the chips were down and by all accounts is a high earner. Brown has been a tremendous servant to the club but issues over training and perhaps finance has allowed Wild a situation where he can keep Clarke and find a quicker and younger centre back. I like Staunton versatility but last season proved he is not a long term answer at centre back. No iss

  2. Brown will be a huge loss but credit to Wild, the club and his plans are bigger than any player. Tough decision for him to make. Redshaw on his day was very good but how many of those days did we see? He failed to deliver time after time and to be honest he hasn't looked interested for a long time. Thought TSS might have been released but can't fault his heart if nothing else. OK as a second/third choice striker. Otherwisetl the list looks about right. Obviously a few of the players offered contracts will leave too. Hope we get some height in the team and some athleticism.

  4. I think Brown is a great lad and a proper passionate player who gives his all. I love players like that. Maybe Wild wants to play more possession based football and higher up the pitch which let's be honest Brown isn't the best at and isn't the fastest. I know Clarke is knocking on but he's a lot cleverer and can use his experience and brain to get himself out of a pickle. It'll be sad to see Browny go but that's football I suppose. Regarding Redshaw. I don't think he would score so many goals as some people are making out. The good scoring strikers in this league tend to be

  8. Personally I think we need the following a goalkeeper who’s played for England a young franz beckenbauer Gareth Bale A fit Dan Gardner Steve Bushell Brian Kilcline in his current health Not Charlie Cooper A lad who will get 75 assists Cameron King for 5 minute cameos Not Tobi Sho Silva Tom Denton but not for long before he gets ripped to shreds again Lee Gregory Ronaldo There, that should get us out of the league.

  12. I have faith in Pete Wild and therefore support his retained list, watching Harrogate v BHW yesterday highlighted in my opinion that the level of fitness was better than displayed by Town when we played BHW , to lose Brown is a pity but at his age and ability level his commitments outside football appear to take precedence, certainly I can understand that a fitter Town is required. It has been stated that Town have played some dire football “ last “ season but the football at town’s level is dire , just look at yesterday’s game where the only “ class “ was shown by a 20 year old on loan f

  18. He's made the right choice in my opinion. He is rightly going to go down as a Leicester City legend. He's won them a title and got himself several awards in the process. There will be people in 20/30/40 years time remembering Vardy and this period of Leicester City. Can you name a single Arsenal player that people will remember from this current crop (For good reasons) in say 5 years time? Its an absolute shambles of a team at the moment with no backbone or spine.

  19. Arsenal wanted him 3 seasons back but I think he wanted to be the main man at Leicester as opposed to a bit part at a top 4 team. Deserves his golden boot been a consistent high teens low twenties goal scorer for a few seasons now. Although it looked at one point today Aubameyang was going to storm through and catch him.

  20. People are comfortable with the social distancing and changes in day to day life, I can not see it being a major issue in a football stadium. People will moan for a couple of days (as they have since the start of lockdown) and then get on with it and on the whole abide by the guidelines

  25. Agreed If that game had been reversed and notts had been top and playing at the shay they would have bought double the amount we did. We played them the weekend before Xmas with both teams having shocking runs at the time.

  29. I'm well documented on Kosy, loved him and would have him back in a heartbeat. But thats not going to happen. I think your right r.e. BW game, that was exactly my thought when I seen the team sheet. I can only think it's this long term injury thats looking like it's going to cost him his career now. It will be interesting to see if any other clubs show interest in him. There was one particular game at the Shay when he was scythed down by a defender, very early in the game and he struggled after that, and he didnt even get a free kick!! He had been a regular starter and playing well. I think it

  30. Fully agree regarding Redshaw. He's a smart footballer that's played at a higher level. The people he was playing with simply were not as smart and didn't have the capability to find his runs or put the right ball in to the box. I feel we might regret this one. We will try so hard to find a 20 goal a season striker this summer and in my view we have just let one go.

  31. His movement and intelligence were as good as anyone I've seen in a long time, which is the reason why he's done so well given his size. (Kosy was not in the same league...his often wayward decision making and end product meant he flattered to deceive. Combined with his disciplinary, it was no loss at all when he went as far as I was concerned). But can only base my opinion on what I saw. His goals all came in that promising start he had. He didn't look the same player from the end of January onwards. I know the wages we paid him were below what he ideally wanted which prob

  32. The biggest loss for me is Redshaw. I know Browny will be missed, he's cemented his place in the Town history books and his passion and commitment are something of a rare quality these days. Maybe, if no one comes in for him we may see him play for Town again albeit as a bit part player, who knows? But for me Redshaw was the class that we should be looking to recruit not let go. I can only think it's one of two things. :- His injuries are not clearing up, the club have been very generous to him when no one else would give him a chance or B:- His wage demands are out of line with the clubs paym

  33. You cant really say that Ashy1966. As we all know football is a very strange animal, it can turn in an instant. As Cloughie used to say, "it only takes a second to score a goal", and clubs whole seasons have completely turned around in that 1 second. But whether we would or not is really immaterial, I wasnt in favour of the playoffs anyway, I went on record as opting to just promote Barrow as Champions and Harrogate as runners up, based on the table as it stood on March 14th when the season ended. And now we look at the playoff final and its Harrogate v Notts County, 2nd & 3rd respectively

  34. Our average away support last season was 241 per game compared to away support at the shay of 205. On that basis we are one of the "big hitters" in terms of what we add to a clubs gate.

  35. for such a big club I didnt rate notts fans at all..should be bringing at least a thousand ...we average just over 2 thousand and took a third of that to theres..our support there was awesome and a great away day apart from the result...I hate harrogate think there punching against there weight...would rather harrogate go up..notts better away day for me

  42. Depends if we can get a good lone striker in. Nearly every team who succeeds in this league plays 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 with a big horrible f*cker up front. Players like that have caused us many problems this season - Beck, Rhead and Bell at Stockport are examples. In previous years we’ve seen it from promoted teams with the likes of Akinde at Barnet, Danny Wright at Cheltenham, Nathan Blissett At Macclesfield and so on. Can see why Wild wants to play that way it’s just about getting the right striker in and wingers who can provide that striker good service.

  43. Let’s look at this in reverse. Bring in four good players in the right positions and we have a good squad. Pack Centre half if Browny goes. Two strikers An experienced midfield player. Then a loanee from a top club Its called building on a successful season. This idea that you move out 12 and get another 12 better has in my opinion never worked for Halifax Town.
