  1. Orange Shirt

Some toerag from Barnsley on remand in one of the many hostels in Blackpool where they dump crims from all over the North of England burgled our house in 2002 and stole a signed Uhlsport gold shirt. Never got it back but he got 5 years. Karma.
  2. Mick Kennedy

RIP Mick. A proper midfield grafter who could play a bit as well. Hope the club have the decency to acknowledge him on Saturday.
  3. Happy New year everyone

Make that good luck today against the posh boys!
  4. Happy New year everyone

Happy New Year from Vienna. No sign of Midge Ure. Good luck tomorrow against the posh boys.
  5. Solihull Moors at home

Could have been better, but still a winnable tie.
  6. Guiseley

First 30 minutes I'd agree, but second half we lacked drive. Codheads are a cut above Wimbledon and Guiseley are putting up a good show.
  7. Guiseley

    In patches
  8. Guiseley

Chip Shop doing ok. Seem up for it and playing with a passion that we could have done with on Saturday.
  9. Best football

He did that sunny day...and Lord Aspin hooked him.
  10. Best football

23.04.2011: a forward line of Jamie Vardy, Lee Gregory, Danny Holland and Scott Hogan. Happy Days!
  11. Interview

I asked my son who is a UEFA B coach what is meant by 'blind pressure'. Here's his response: 'Haven’t heard of the term as far as I can recall; can only surmise it is when anticipating an attacker from behind to steal the ball or a kind of pressure from momentum like in rugby?' My son has worked for 2 years with Middlesbrough's academy (Category A) and I've heard many a tale of coaching jargon, but JF's psychobabble is on another level.
  12. Reece Styche

Styche is a striker, not an attacking midfielder and is clearly a like for like replacement for Denton. Living in Darlo I've seen him play a few times: he's good in the air, got a good first touch, holds the ball up well and has a powerful shot. Would have been a good foil for Southwell. I went to Darlo's game against Alfreton earlier this season and the two players who stood out were Josh Wilde and Stephen Thompson (Darlo). Denton created Alfreton's winner with a flick on and then spent the rest of the game ambling around and conceding free kicks for holding his marker...sound familiar?
  13. Aspin

Saw Lord Aspin at Steve Hackett (ex Genesis lead guitarist) gig at The Sage Gateshead last Sunday. Hackett opened with 'Dance on a Volcano' which pretty much sums up Neil's situation at Port Vale at the moment. A case of life imitating art...
  14. Music

Moving on Up by Primal Scream. Failing that the return of the Hawaii Five 0 theme.
  15. Loan signings

Stuart Parnaby was a class act to say how young he was when we had him on loan. If I remember correctly he was England U18 capain and to be sure he looked like Bobby Moore at our level. Nothing seemed to faze him and he carried the ball out from the back rather than hoofing it forward. One of the many Boro youth graduates from that period that went on to play at the highest level.
