sunny d 3
First time post here, just wondered what peoples opinion of our current badge is? I've thought for a long time surely this isn't the best we can do and I find it hard to associate it with the town, it just feels a bit arbitrary.

Icke's Lizard 3,649
Whilst I can understand the argument that it's easier and cheaper to get it onto merchandise, I'd love to go back to the proper town crest or even that 1970s/80s round badge would do me. 3

I absolutely agree, I am actually a fan of that round one it's a bit different and unique if nothing else. Even if a new badge just incorporated aspects of the old crest I'd be much happier. Shaymen1984 552
I don't like it. Gutted to lose the historic coat of arms. Also the "FC". Directors seem wedded to the 2008 brand so guess we're stuck with it whilst they are around.
Popular Post Flea 6,714
I think its better than the HTFC one we had, however overall I'm not overly keen. It feels a bit "clip art" to me and like something a Yr7 would do in a computer tech class. It's grown on me a little over the years, however I'd love to go back to the old traditional Town coat of arms. Maybe that is the traditionalist in me - I think most clubs should have their town/cities crest as the badge when possible. ITMAN 1,377
For me having the Town coat of arms incorporated into the badge creates a sense of identity that links us indelibly to the actual Town and all of the inhabitants. After all we are the premier sporting ambassadors for the town of Halifax across the world. We are even famous in Brazil.
Skircoat Shed Archive 898
Coat of arms crest please. The circular HTFC one also looked good but obviously can't be used again unless / until the name is ever amended.
Steve Lanzarote 4,790
No brainer Coat of arms.

I remember my time at the club and one year when sorting out the kit, it cost £2...yes only £2 to have the crest put on an item of clothing. Even if the current logo costs just £1 to have it embroidered, I dont buy this as a justifiable reason.
riccardo259 1,459
Not really bothered by the crest either way to be honest. But wow, it looks a whole lot better than Man City’s after they redid theirs a few years ago! That looks like something drawn by a 3 year old.
Jmc 1,589
Coat off arms all day long , one of the few plus points of our historically wretched team
bill_atkins_is_king 24
Coat of arms. Even had Dave Staniforth’s face on it. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.pinterest.co.uk/amp/pin/132363676532986956/

It's better than the poxy one they initially used for FCHT. But yes, it is an affront to the thousands of supporters, players and club officials who built the club up from scratch, and kept it going in the face of astronomical odds. It would not kill DB to bring back the old crest but we all know it simply won't happen. The thought of a supporter using the club's crest without the direct permission of DB probably keeps him awake at night.
sunny d 3
Surely as fans we have some kind of leverage, if a large enough proportion wanted change then it could be a fantastic way of making the club feel like it’s really ours again. Perhaps it’s just a pipe dream.

Edited for you. It’s Mr B’s club, Mr B’s badge. It’s an embarrassing badge, but he will not change it.

For those that have replica kit etc. is it not possible to have a coat of arms badge made & apply accordingly, if enough interested I'm sure someone will manufacture a batch. I'd have one to stick on my wynsiette pyjamas.

But Bob Walker (I think it was) claimed it was costing too much to manufacture and came up with some 'classy' alternatives which looked to have been thought up by infants in a spare two minutes before home time.
ITMAN 1,377
Not upto date on everything badge history related but can anyone explain why we have 5 stars on the current badge? I thought the present day use of stars in a clubs insignia was determined by the number of titles they had won, i.e 5 PL titles and you have 5 stars on your badge. Maybe it could be used as a form of retro shirt/kit harking back to our glory years....
Hoddie 3,158
I don't know the answer to that but I always thought there was a reason why the three stripes on City's badge were gold. Apparently not given the lack of it on the two crests above.
