My first match was the Watneys Cup game against Man United in 71. So taking that as the start of my penance, sorry support, then that makes 48 years.

Very negative thread title imo Nick. At a time when we are pushing the fantastic season ticket initiative and trying to encourage newbies and and lapsed Town fans to buy into the idea perhaps " How long have you supported the club you love" or something similar would have been more positive.

Was meant as a bit tongue in cheek

but I apologise if you feel it or as not said in that way

but at the same time town fans are not and have never been and will never be glory hunters

as it says .. shaymen till we die ...

not shaymen till we lose a couple of games

I think it’s says a lot about our support so little success but many supporters who have supported the club all their lives

fantastic away support ... how many on the last game of the season to fylde after a season of some real dross

yet people still turn up

good season ticket sales

all this for what must be the most unsuccessful club in the last 100 years

says a lot about the supporters we have

:)

Sept 1949 boring draw v Southport (so I am told but dont remember but hooked) but attended the ground before that scoring goals in the south goal as my grandad was a volunteer groundsman as he lived opposite the ground and he use to take me along so they gave me a ball to entertain me.

Sixty one years, although I never paid in the early days, waited until the Bobby looked the other way & jumped over the fence from the bus sheds then slid down the bank & mingled in the crowd........ usually about 3,000 in those days.

Feb 1963 when we played Spurs but don't remember what my dad put in the Bovril but it made me hooked on the Shaymen so that makes 66 fun packed years and still in the South Stand.

First game would've been around 1998. Very regular attendance started 2008 and hasn't been interrupted since. Just about withstanding those home losses to Kidderminster and Oxford United in that final season has translated into decent sticking power today!
