Nathan Clarke

Even more remarkable considering he is nearly 35 and a centre back.

But indicates how/why he's played nearly 500 games as a professional, as he must look after himself impeccably and also be really well disciplined. Towards the end of a career, people tend to pick up more niggles and strains, and when pace goes, you'd think get yellows contributing to suspensions.

The reception to his impromptu speech to the Orient fans in their club bar after the recent 2-2 draw was quite affecting. He is very well-regarded there, and this is further testimony to his attitude and professionalism. I hadn't realised until recently that he faced Joe Skarz when Orient played their ill-starred League One play-off final against Rotherham at Wembley a few years back.

Very good player.

Please don't take this as being argumentative or shooting him down for the sake of being negative. It has helped having 2 more centre halves infront of Brown and Clarke, and at the age of 35 going on 36 next season I don't expect him to hit the same standards should we open up a little more with our attacking play and formation. He won't have the same protection he does now.

But saying that, we had Killer Kilcline and Peter Jackson for a short while back in 98 who were at a similar age so all hope isn't lost and whilst sticking on the subject of the thread, it's a fantastic achievement and a credit to himself for keeping in shape at this stage of his career.

Our next manager? Fingers crossed.

That would mean he'd failed on the pitch

I totally agree about his fitness. His mobility is excellent for his age. If you use the two examples you've given then Nathan not only looks younger his pace is much better too.

Jackson could read a game better and Killer could read a game and was good in the air but I could see Clarke going on for a few more seasons yet.

Tremendous achievement this season.

Every successful team has experienced defenders at the heart. At Man Utd, the Class of 92 had Pallister and Bruce and the Arsenal Invincibles had Keown and Campbell.

Amazed that Nathan hasn’t been signed up great season a local lad ,If the club want to get into the community he’s the perfect player to go into schools and local clubs we want to drive season ticket sales he would be the perfect person his value off the pitch could be as significant as on it he’s probably the most marketable player we have surely the club must be able to see this.

Martin Foster’s greatest game. His first goal was bloody brilliant, if a premier league player scored it Sky and BT would be replaying it for months

If Clarke has aspirations to be a Manager he won't be with us next season. Fullarton doesn't want anyone in position to take his place. Eg Michael Collins.

I thought there was definitely an element of that at the time but in hindsight maybe not. I don't think Michael Collins was ready either mentally or physically. Had he been fully fit and had he not taken in the role at Bradford we could have had a cracking pair of holding midfielders in Collins and Maher. Collins cod have helped Maher no end. But, it's all ifs and buts.

I think JF will help us to a higher finish next season.

Where’s Collins now hasn’t played since Alfreton got beaten at home by  Spennymoor 1-7.

Nonsense...... Fullarton will only be sacked if he's not doing well enough, the age of certain members of our playing squad will not speed this process up.

Im sure Clarke will sign on, theres no rush, he wont attract much interest from elsewhere due to his age and he should be good for another season. Fully expect it announced soon.

Clarke has been voted the Courier player of the season.

Well done Nathan Clarke.

It wouldn't surprise me if he does get some interest buy It think it's nailed on he'll sign for us.

He may be knocking on a bit but the man is rock solid. Him and Browny. Not seen a better centre half pairing since Vidic and Rio
