Another one from the vaults but don't go any further back because its making feel very old unless you have got the one where in 1959 where Frank  Large scored twice for us to win 2 1 at City and that Brilliant CF George Whitelaw who was the man,oh happy days.

Wasn’t this the game where one of our lads (Lawther I think) got sent off, thus blowing our chance to win the fair play league which fetched a nice little cash prize in those days. Good result away at City however in what was a lovely season.

Great memories

Had a bad injury at the time so was out of the game for a long time but at least give me a chance to watch the boys.

Phil McCarthy, who never got booked, was booked for nowt, thus ruling us out of a substantial pay-out, Oldham collected it and built a new stand whilst The Shay continued to fall into decay.

Loved our battles with either of the Braford teams. My bruv & me always ended up involved with the fisticuffs, both six footers so did have a reach advantage, back to back undefeated.

2 seasons out, I'm afraid. Fair play league was 1970-71.

That was in 1970-71. Two bookings all season, both in the same game. Bob Wallace and Phil McCarthy.

Ian Lawther was sent off at Brentford on 30 November 1968, foul and abusive language.

Didn't Lawther get off the foul and abusive charge stating the referee misunderstood his comments due to his Irish brogue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,diddly dee, diddly dee.

Bannister, one half of 'smash and grab'

Anyone know the other half? Only those not born then allowed to answer.

Alan Warboys. I remember him playing for Doncaster towards the end of his career.

I was at this game. My first away match and it was frightening with a lot of fights in the crowd. We had a lot of fans there but most were keeping quiet to avoid trouble. We had a good team in those days, that had a game plan, unlike our current side, which doesn’t seem to know how it’s going to play for anything other than a draw.
