Serious Head Injury To Fan

6 posts in this topic

Apologies for not being able to upload the article in the Courier but it says that one of our fans received a serious head injury at the Morecambe away game and Lancashire police are under investigation from the police watchdog.

Firstly, I hope the fan is alright and they make a full recovery. Secondly, it said that there was trouble between Radcliffe Borough fans and our fans. I didn't think Radcliffe Borough had any fans never mind hooligans.

We were all kept behind for a good 10/15 mins in the car park after the game and it appeared there wasn't a single copper that had a clue what they were doing. The tone of that article (and we must remind ourselves it comes from the Courier which is about as reliable as The Sun for accurate reporting) seems to suggest the police are at fault for the injury sustained to the individual.

No idea what happened between the fans at HT although it was quite noticeable in the second half that our end seemed a fair bit emptier than it was in the first.

The fan in question was Mick McGinley. He was knocked to the ground by a police officer. Another officer approached him and asked if he was ok and took his number. He then received a phone call the following day from the police asking if he wanted to press charges which he declined to do.
