My username and picture is based on Iggy Navarro's character Shakehands in Alan Bleasdale's early 80s scouse drama Boys from the Blackstuff.  In the final episode, George's last ride, the final 20 minutes is a brilliantly chaotic pub scene featuring shakehands crushing folks' hands then ordering them a pint of bitter.  The pub featured was the Green man, Vauxhall road, Liverpool.  I left it too late to have a pint there as i went a few years ago when it was boarded up.  Since youtube footage shows it being demolished for new flats.  Footage in the episode also shows a silted up Albert dock and the old Tate and Lyle factory being demolished.  The area is where Evertons new ground is proposed.

Always preferred Aug Wiedersehen Pet to Boys From The Black Stuff. But then again, back in the day I favoured Blur over Oasis so what do I know?

My name is a tribute to my favourite Halifax Town player.

Ian Juryeff was my favourite player during the Norris golden boot season. Did all the donkey work for Norris to score the goals. My name is Ian too which helped.

I liked Juryeff too. I can remember feeling disappointed when we as him Hereford (I think we sold him to them for about £40 000.)

Sold him for 40 and bought him back for 50. Perfect example of the superb running of the club.

Think it was Juke rather than Duke. As in Juke Box Jury(eff).

Horse racing and betting on it has been a hobby since 1971.  When I left the Halifax bank in 2009 I bought the Go Racing in Yorkshire passport and went racing weekdays and Shay on Saturdays.  Was a great fan of Lester Piggott (watching him win the St Leger on Commanche Run would be a highlight).  Moved to Leicester in 2010 and get to the Shay when I can.  So I'm Lester from Leicester.

When I first started on building sites I was called, for some reason, dumper truck. After a few years, one of the lads had been watching a trial bike video where it had a spoof porn film in it. The main star was big and black and if anyone treat his girls wrongly he would say 'nobody messes with bubbas ladies' and beat the crap out of them. For some reason I reminded my mate of bubba so from then on I was christened bubba and it's stuck ever since.

N.b. I am neither black, never  beaten the crap out of anyone and never performed in a spoof porn film.

This made me laugh.

There was a Facebook thread a little while back where someone asked "Whos got the best story for a nickname that someone was given at school?"

Someone then commented below.

"This one lad in our year once bought 4 pairs of jeans in one go, so from then on everyone called him Spider."
